Research Interests

Subduction zones are among the geologically most complex regions on Earth. They are shaped by a variety of tectonic processes that are active on a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. I use marine acoustic methods to study active tectonics and subduction related processes in different subduction zones, such as Chile and Sumatra. My primary current research interests include (I) extensional faulting in marine forearcs above the seismogenic zone region, (II) segmentation and spatial distribution of seismic rupture during megathrust earthquakes, (III) slope stability and submarine mass wasting, (IV) intra-oceanic plate deformation as far-field signature of plate convergent zones, and (V) fluid flow and hydrocarbon seepage related to megathrust earthquakes.
